Marta Gutierrez was born in 1961 in Medellin, Colombia.
An architect by training, Marta arrived in Boston in 1985 where she enrolled at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts to follow her dream of becoming an artist. Two years later, she transferred to The Corcoran School of Art in Washington D.C. where she completed her BFA degree.
In her work, as a painter as well as a furniture designer, Marta brings multiple disciplines and media to bear. Her work is always informed by her constant search for abstraction and techniques that reflect her varied professional background. Marta has participated in several group shows and has exhibited in galleries and museums in the United States and Colombia. Her shows include: After, Day to Day, Horizons, Frameless,and Cuts. Marta has her studio in Washington D.C.
