Born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1949, Ricardo graduated from the Instituto de Diseño Fundación Neumann (Caracas) in 1972. He studies engraving / etching techniques in the atelier 63 in Paris between 1980 and 1982. That year he enters Pratt institute in New York, where he also taught until 1986.

Throughout his active career he has had one-man exhibitions in Venezuela, France, Argentina, Colombia, Puerto Rico, the United States, Japan, Brazil, Canada, etc, the most relevant being: latin-american utopia, Museo de Arte de las Américas, Washington (1991); utopia, Galería diana lowenstein, Buenos Aires, and ambrosino Gallery, coral Gables (1992); a Vision of Gaia, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas Sofía Imber; recent Works, Galería Forum and Cecilia Gonzáles, lima (1998); Warishana, Galería art Tepuy, Caracas, and Museo Ecológico del Caroní, Puerto Ordaz (2002); Primigenial Rituals, Galería Li-Centro de Arte, Caracas (2001), Galería Forum y Cecilia González, Lima (2002); Territorial Balancing, Galería Sextante, Bogotá (2008).
